What do you need to know about wisdom teeth
Wisdom teeth consultation (30 min) is $195 which does include a panoramic x-ray (OPG) necessary to diagnose the position of the wisdom teeth in the jaw bone. Please note wisdom teeth will not be removed at the same time of the consultation. If you are in pain or show signs of inflammation/infection appropriate pain management or/and antibiotic therapy will be prescribed during your initial consultation.
What to expect during your consultation. The dentist will have a look at the area(s) of the wisdom teeth, take a clinical photo and assess the x-ray findings. The dentist will then advise if there is a need for intervention and the possibility of the in-house removal of the wisdom teeth with a quote. However, in some cases, a referral to an oral surgeon will be necessary.
Not all wisdom teeth require extraction unless the following:
Not enough space in the dental arch
Difficulty in cleaning and maintaining gum health (gum disease)
Detrimental to the health of the neighbouring teeth (decay)
Recurrent infections
Prior to orthodontic treatment
Associated with pathology
